Trash to Treasure will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at the East Juniata Community Center, 1608 N. 5th Avenue, Altoona. This is an indoor yard sale, turning one man's trash into another man's treasure, held in cooperation with Penn State Altoona. Items for sale could include electronics, clothing, housewares, furniture, books, office supplies, toys, and miscellaneous other items. We are offering an early bird entry from 7:00-8:00 a.m. for a $5 admission fee. General sale is from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Admission to the general sale is free. All proceeds benefit United Way of Blair County's general fund and is used to support local programs that meet the needs of our community.
VOLUNTEERS AND DONATIONS NEEDED! Volunteers are needed from Tuesday, May 9th through Friday, May 12th to help sort items, organize, and set up for the sale. Volunteers are also needed the day of the sale (Saturday, May 13th) from 6:30 a.m. unitl 1:00 p.m. On the day of the sale, volunteers will help greet customers, assist with checkout, and assist customers with finding, bagging, and loading items. Donations of items for the sale are also needed. Suggestions of items to donate include (but are not limited to) athletic equipment, carpets, furniture, electronics, children's clothes or toys, fans, small appliances, etc. Items can be dropped off at the East Juniata Community Center during the following days/times:
Tuesday, May 9th - 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Wednesday, May 10th, 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Thursday, May 11th, 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Friday, May 12th, 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
NEW THIS YEAR!!!
This year, thanks to Perry Wellington Realty's generous donation of the use of a box truck, we are offering pick-up of larger items for those wanting to donate to the sale but who do not have a way to deliver the items to the sale site. If you have larger items that you would like to donate and would liket us to pick up, please contact Melanie Shildt at email@example.com or 814-944-0884, ext. 306. We will be scheduling pick-ups between 3-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (May 9th, 10th, and 11th).
Additionally, if your business would like to serve as a collection site for donations, we will also pick up boxes of items at businesses. If your business would like to collect donations, please contact Melanie Shildt.
