2017 Impact Grants

United Way of Blair County awards funds raised through its Community Campaign annually to 501(c)(3) organizations that operate programs within Blair County that have the greatest potential to make a positive impact on identified priority need areas. Funds are awarded through a competitive grant process. The 2017-18 application process is now open, and one-year applications are currently be accepted for the 2017-18 grant year. Any 501(c)(3) non-profit, human service organization that provides a program to Blair County residents that has a measureable impact on one of four locally determined focus areas (Health, Education, Income, and Emergency Needs) is eligible to apply for United Way funding. For more information about these need areas, please refer to the Community Plan. The 2017 Request for Proposal (RFP) can be downloaded in either Microsoft Word or PDF format using the links below. *No grant request may exceed $35,000.

Two pre-proposal training opportunities will be provided to assist agencies that are planning to submit an application. The first training - Overview of RFP/Question & Answer Session - is being offered at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at the United Way office. This session is recommended for all applicants. Please allow approximately two hours for this session. A General Outcome Measurement Training will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. at the United Way office. This session is open to all applicants and is highly recommended for new or previously unfunded agencies. Additionally, an individual Proposal Work Session may be requested by any applicant that wants an opportunity to ask final questions or review their application for completeness. These sessions run approximately thirty minutes per grant application being submitted. Appointments are available on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 and Thursday, February 23, 2017 at United Way of Blair County. Registration is required for each of the training sessions. To be considered for funding, grant applications must be received in the United Way office at 5414 Sixth Avenue in Altoona by the deadline of 4:00 p.m. on Friday, March 17, 2017. Early Submission: Applications received by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, March 3, 2017 will be reviewed for completeness, and you will be notified of any missing documents. Any missing documents must be received by the final deadline of 4:00 p.m. on March 17, 2017. Applications received after the early submission deadline will not receive the completeness review and will be submitted to the review committee as provided. Applications received after 4:00 p.m. on March 17, 2017 will not be considered.
