CONTACT Altoona is a telephone helpline service providing listening services, reassurance calls, crisis intervention, and information and referral services to the community. Telephones are staffed 365 days a year by trained volunteers who are prepared to offer stability in times of confusion and to assist people of all ages to resolve their own problems and develop their inner resources. Unable to afford your medications? The United Way of Blair County can help to determine if you might qualify for reduced or free medications through pharmaceutical company’s assistance programs. To see if you qualify, log onto the Partnership for Prescription Assistance web-site at or call 814-944-0884 to schedule an appointment with a volunteer that can help.
