LOCAL UNITED WAY SUPPORTERS JOIN FORCES FOR DAY OF CARING
From landscape clean-up to helping with the Blair Clearfield Association for the Blind’s picnic, local United Way supporters look to make a real difference during the twentieth annual “Day of Caring” on Wednesday, June 19. Volunteers from local businesses and individuals from the community will come together in an effort to create positive, tangible changes in our community.
With this event, United Way of Blair County looks to fill unmet needs in our community while providing a quality volunteer experience for supporters. In an age where non-profit organizations are heavily relied upon to fill the needs of the community, lending your skill and a little elbow grease are often as crucial as a monetary contribution. Volunteers will work on varied tasks throughout the day at more than twenty non-profit organizations in all areas of Blair County including Altoona, Bellwood, Claysburg, Hollidaysburg, Martinsburg, Roaring Spring and Tyrone.
For seventy-nine years, United Way of Blair County has been dedicated to addressing and solving the most pressing issues in our local community by bringing together individuals with a varied background and skill set. The common goal is to achieve long lasting changes that make an impact on health, education and income. For further information on how you can lend a hand, contact Amy Wood at 944-0884. Together, volunteers can create results that no one person can accomplish.
The deadline has passed for not-for-profit agencies to submit project proposals for Day of Caring 2013. Not-for-profits operating in Blair County may contact 944-0884 or email@example.com for information about next year's event.
